The CastAndLoose Weekly Round-Up

Welcome to the first edition of the CastAndLoose Weekly Round-Up!

CastAndLoose.Tumblr.com is a collection of the worst (real) casting breakdowns the internet has to offer, curated by me, actor and writer Lynne Marie Rosenberg. Join me each week for the highlights of the entertainment industry.

1. This week, keeping with film school tradition of whitewashing, a USC student is casting an all Caucasian short film for no reason…

Story line: A normal conversation between 2 sisters turns into a heated confrontation.

[ CYNTHIA ] 20 to 35 years old, Caucasian female.

[ ANN ] 20 to 35 years old, Caucasian female.

…proving once again that “normal” is film school speak for “white.”

2. Not to be outdone, an American Film Institute student produced this clever new idea…

[ WINSTON'S AVATAR ] - 25 to 32 years old, all ethnicities female. Appearance-wise, this is a typical sexualized female avatar in a video game. […]

…solidifying himself as a typical objectifying creep soon to head into the professional realm.

3. The fashion world found a creative way around saying “Not Black Or Asian…”

[ HEALTH/FASHION EXPERT - NARRATOR ] 40 to 55 years old, Caucasian, Eastern European, Hispanic, Mediterranean female. Must have a healthy appearance. Professional/executive type female. Well spoken and confident. Teleprompter experience a plus.

4. …while the TV world seems to be struggling with language and meaning.

[ STYLE MAVEN ] The style maven gives good Instagram.
[ CELESTE ] […] This audition will include a very short improvised reading of a scripted scene.

5. An improvised reading of a scripted scene is like a blind date with a guy you know really well.  But the CastAndLoose Weekly Round-Up award this week goes to this fellow, who apparently has a death wish:

[ OSCAR ] 25 to 30 years old, Hispanic male. Mean, intense looking, muscular not fat, must have sleeve tattoos. Looking for someone with real gang affiliation.

Till next week! If we live that long.
